The Jumbo coil format
Select the length, diameter, shank and point for your pallet joint. Jumbo brings those nail choices into a large coil for automatic feeding.
Plastic center support
A plastic insert supports the opening at the center of the coil.
Cardboard on both sides
Rigid cardboard supports the top and bottom of the nail coil.

Smooth, ring and screw shank profiles
Match the steel to the timber. Choose Q195 or Q235 to suit the timber hardness and fastening requirements, while keeping material costs appropriate.

Steel & shank selection
Q195 or Q235?
Both steel grades are available. Q235 denotes a higher base-steel yield grade. Finished-nail performance also depends on wire processing, nail design and the timber joint.
Select the grade with a driving trial and a joint-holding check in your actual timber. A suitable specification meets the job requirements without unnecessary material cost.
Smooth shank
Lower driving resistance. A cost-focused option when the tested joint meets the required holding performance.
Ring shank
Consider when resistance to pull-out is a priority. Check driving performance and the finished joint in your timber.
Screw shank
A deformed profile for additional grip. Compare with ring shank for your joint; both generally need more driving energy than smooth shank.
Softer timber
Check penetration and pull-out resistance. Test the complete joint before choosing the steel grade and shank.
Dense timber & knots
Trial the material, diameter and point together. Check for bending, splitting and full driving with the intended machine.
Repeated-use pallets
Review handling cycles, moisture changes and withdrawal/shear requirements. Shank type alone does not establish a pallet load rating.
Buying for different markets? Send the destination country, actual wood species or density, board thickness, moisture condition and pallet use. Imported, mixed and reclaimed timber should be assessed by its condition; country alone is not a material specification.
Match the coil to your machine
Jumbo coils are for an automatic pallet line with a suitable large-coil feeder. Nail length and diameter are only part of the match; a handheld CN nailer model does not confirm that its magazine accepts a Jumbo coil.
1. Nailing head
Send the machine and nailing-head models, plus the current nail drawing or carton label. Check length, shank and head diameter, point, collation angle and weld-wire position.
2. Coil support
Provide the reel or holder drawing: center opening, outside diameter, coil height, winding direction and the way the coil is supported.
3. Feeding trial
Trial the intended coil in the actual line and timber before a bulk order. Include long-nail requirements so the large-coil arrangement can be assessed.

Square-format cartons for large coils
Jumbo coils are typically packed in cartons with a square footprint. Each coil has its own plastic center support and top and bottom cardboard. The usual packing is three coils per carton.

What if the collating wire breaks during feeding?
Stop the line and isolate it using the machine’s safety procedure. Replace a damaged coil with an intact one, then check the loading arrangement against the machine manual. Keep the affected coil and label; include photos of the support and feed path when reporting the problem.
Why do nails bend or break at the nailing head?
Check the specified nail against the nailing-head requirements and inspect damaged fasteners, the driver and nose after safe isolation. Include the timber, nail batch and machine details in the review. A change of steel grade alone does not diagnose the cause.
What should I check when a full coil does not feed smoothly?
Check the supported coil dimensions, winding direction and loading method against the feeder drawing. Look for deformation or broken collating wire. Send photos of the loaded coil and feed route; have machine adjustments checked by the equipment supplier.
Can ring or screw shanks solve loose pallet joints?
They are options to compare when pull-out resistance matters, but driving takes more energy than with smooth shanks. Check timber moisture, penetration and the full joint design as well. Validate the intended pallet use with the completed connection.
How do we qualify Jumbo coils for a new pallet line?
Agree the nail drawing and coil/holder dimensions, then run samples in the intended machine and timber. Review feeding, driving depth, splitting and joint holding performance. Record the accepted nail, coil and packing specification before the production order.
