Match the complete feeding system
Automatic pallet lines do not all accept the same coil. A nominal nail size is only one part of the specification. Compare the reel, feed route, mounted nailing head and wood joint as one system.
01 / MACHINE
Identify the line
Record the machine builder and full line model, nailing station and current feeder arrangement. Send the machine manual or reel drawing if available.
02 / REEL
Measure the reel interface
Confirm centre support, outer diameter, coil height, clearance and orientation against the equipment drawing. A photo of the installed reel helps us understand the arrangement.
03 / NAIL
Check the nail and wire
Confirm nominal diameter and length, head, point, shank, collation angle, wire positions and feed direction against the mounted nailing head and existing sample.
04 / TRIAL
Run the actual pallet joint
Trial the finished coil on your line and timber. Record feeding, drive depth, bent nails, splitting and joint acceptance before fixing the bulk specification.

Check the complete interface
The feeder must support and unwind the reel while the nailing head accepts the collated strip. Check the centre support and available space, the route into each head, and the nail and wire geometry in the machine documentation. Confirm final fit with the actual reel and line.
For a useful comparison: photograph the installed reel from above and the side, the centre mount, the path to the nailing head, and the label or drawing of the current nail. Include all nailing stations if they differ.
CHOOSE THE FEED FORMAT
Standard or Jumbo depends on the feeder
The nail diameter, length, point and shank can be similar in standard and Jumbo coils. The key difference here is the supported coil format. A longer nail does not automatically make a coil Jumbo.
Standard 15° wire collated coil
Use the standard product specification where the mounted nailer and its magazine accept that coil. Confirm nail dimensions, nails per coil and the full tool model.
Usual MOQ: 200 cartons per size.
Jumbo coil for supported external feed
Consider the supported large reel when the pallet line is designed for it. The typical pack is 3,000 nails per coil and 3 coils per carton; confirm the exact reel and pack before ordering.
MOQ: 400 cartons.
Compare all coil nail formats and nails-per-coil and carton counts. For mounted handheld-style CN nailers, check the CN nailer size ranges against the exact tool manual.
TEST BEFORE THE BULK ORDER
Prove the coil in the actual cycle
Feed and drive checks
Run a coil through the production route with the real pallet stock. Observe whether the wire strip advances cleanly, the reel unwinds evenly, and nails drive to the required depth. Record any snag, missed feed, bent nail or broken collation with the station and coil position where it occurred.
Check the finished joint
Board thickness, wood condition and the assembly pattern affect the result. Compare Q195 and Q235 finished nails and smooth, ring or screw shanks on the actual timber if these options are being considered. Agree acceptance criteria for penetration, splitting and holding with the pallet designer.

What to check when production changes
Will any 3,000-nail reel fit our feeder?
No universal fit follows from the count. Compare the supported core, coil outer diameter and height, reel clearance, unwind direction and nail strip path with the machine documentation, then trial the final reel.
What if the welding wire separates during feeding?
Stop and follow the machine maker’s clearing procedure. Record the exact station and position in the coil, and inspect the reel path, handling damage and wire attachment on a retained sample. Share the batch and photos so the cause can be checked rather than assumed.
What if the line skips nails or jams?
Compare the current and replacement coil geometry, nail and wire positions, head and feed settings, and the condition of the nailing head. Repeat a controlled run with the exact line model and record where the interruption begins.
Are longer pallet nails automatically Jumbo?
No. Jumbo describes the large supported reel format, not a separate nail-length family. Some long nails may be impractical in a large reel, but there is no confirmed universal length cutoff. Confirm the requested length against the actual reel and line.
Should harder timber always use Q235?
A steel grade by itself does not settle the fastening result. Compare finished Q195 and Q235 nails in the actual timber and joint, checking drive quality, bending, splitting and holding. Select from that test and the agreed application requirement.
Can our handheld CN nailer use the Jumbo reel?
Do not infer that from the nail size. The handheld magazine and the automatic line’s external reel support are different feed arrangements. Use the tool’s accepted coil dimensions and full model for a separate compatibility check.
