1022J Series 20 Gauge Industrial Staples: check the entire cross-section
A familiar series number helps identify a starting point. The crown width, wire width, wire thickness and leg length determine whether a candidate staple matches the tool and joint.
1. Record the crown width and confirm the supplier’s measurement convention on the order drawing.
2. Record both dimensions of the wire cross-section; gauge alone is insufficient.
3. Choose a listed leg length for the material stack and required penetration.
4. Compare the dimensions with the exact stapler model and approve a sample.
Choose for your workpiece and equipment
01
Compare with the shorter 1010F family
The crown is also 11.2 mm, but this reference uses 1.12 × 0.6 mm wire and 20GA. Matching crown widths do not make the strips interchangeable.
02
Check each required length
The reference spans 4–22 mm; an individual 1022J stapler may accept only a subset. Confirm its minimum as carefully as its maximum.
03
Assess the completed upholstery
Trial on real covering and backing. Inspect cut-through, loose edges, point projection and strip feeding, then retain an approved assembly sample for repeat orders.
DEFINE THE ORDER, NOT JUST THE FASTENER
Packing, samples and order documentation.
Quantity & packing unit
State your quantity in pieces, strips, reels, boxes or cartons. Confirm the conversion between inner packs and shipping cartons.
Samples & minimum order
Send the selected specification and trial quantity. Sample availability, minimum order and lead time will be checked for the requested configuration.
Labels & documentation
Discuss custom packing, private labels and required drawings or documents before order approval. Keep an agreed sample, label and specification reference for repeat orders.
Questions before you order
Is 1022J interchangeable with 1010F?
No. Although both references list an 11.2 mm crown, their wire widths, gauges and length ranges differ.
Should I choose the longest available leg?
Select for the material stack and receiving backing. Excess length can protrude or damage the component; verify retention with the appropriate length.
Application limits to check
- Do not treat 20GA upholstery staples as structural frame fasteners.
- Do not assume every tool with 1022J in its name accepts a 4 mm leg.
